Overview

In the ultimate canine ancestral story, National Geographic explores the genetic journey from wolf to dog. Travel back 100,000 years to meet the "mother of all dogs" and trace the evolution of her descendents over the eons, even as we evolved ourselves -- from cave dwellers to modern humans. Find out what scientists are learning about dogs' unique ability to communicate with humans, and how powerful brain chemicals work to cement our affection for each other. Delve into the history of selective breeding and see how man created dogs to serve our needs as laborers, companions, hunters, herders, and warriors, as well as to suit our aesthetic fancy.
From immense Great Danes and diminutive Chihuahuas to curly-haired poodles and streamlined greyhounds -- it's no coincidence that dogs are in fact the most diverse mammals on the planet.

About DVD-R

DVD-R Format

The DVD-R is a non-rewriteable digital format that is compatible with most commercial DVD players. The DVD-R format is created with MPEG2 Variable Bit Rate Compression with stereo sound.

How our DVDs and DVD-Rs Differ

Customers who purchase programs in the NG DVD Exclusives Library will receive a non-interactive, play only disc. There is no chaptering information on these DVDs, but there are chapter marks approximately every five minutes, which make it easy to fast forward through a program. The DVD-R format provides the digital video and audio quality you expect from all of our DVDs.

NOTE: The NG DVD-R titles are not closed-captioned. We apologize for any inconvenience this limitation may cause.

Very good, but a few concerns...

You ask for comments, but you limit the space, then comments make no sense. What I was trying to say was overall this was good, however lack of DVD chapter formatting and Closed Captioning should have driven down the price considerably. Yes I would recommend but with these cautions.

cover says it all

I got this DVD as I LOVE dogs, and it helped me understand how our dogs as companions came to be. On a personal note, the part about all the stray dogs had a special meaning. I adopted one of the dogs in the video from Stray rescue. He was the black & brown dog that was rescued from East St Louis and "Ned" is a super pet for me & my husband.
