Overview

Choo Choo! Kids love trains! Especially the old-timey steam engines found in amusement parks and zoos. But what about a super-speeder in Japan that zooms on the track at 361 miles per hour? Or the world's longest freight train, stretching on for a whopping 4.6 miles? Or futuristic railways in the sky? In this Level 1 reader, young readers will discover a whole new way of looking at trains!

Comments about National Geographic Readers: Trains:

My train loving son loved this book which we bought at a gift shop at a historical site, but I was very disappointed with the fact that the book stated that Chinese and Irish people built the railroads while completely overlooking the presence of African American workers. I ended up printing out some historical photos of black railroad workers, adding my own text, and adding the pictures into the book so my son would see the contributions of people who looked like him. We also had a discussion about biased history.

Comments about National Geographic Readers: Trains:

Sent this to a great nephew who had just been in hospital and who loves trains. Haven't heard yet if he liked it, but I am confident that he did. All NGEO publications are outstanding.
