National Geographic's The World for Kids wall map is an enticing and engaging world map perfect for classroom, home or library. Recommended by geography educators for ages 7 - 12, this map features an optimized map design for readability and easy, intuitive learning. All 195 independent countries and their official, colorful flags are represented and arranged in alphabetical order for ease-of-use. Expertly researched, The World for Kids map is an essential reference tool for today's interesting geographical world. Drawn in the Winkel Tripel projection, distortions are minimized and unlike many other World maps, Greenland is show the same size as Argentina and not as the size of all of South America.

The map is encapsulated in heavy-duty 1.6 mil laminate which makes the paper much more durable and resistant to the swelling and shrinking caused by changes in humidity. Laminated maps can be framed without the need for glass, so the frames can be much lighter and less expensive.

Love the map - packaging was a little problematic

I bought this map to use with my 5 year old grandson. This map is clear, colorful and easy to read, perfect for kids. The US does not have state borders, so I printed a copy of a US map, laminated it and stuck it in the Pacific Ocean (!) so we had access to all 50 states. He also is fascinated by the flags! He'll find one he likes, and ask me to help him find its country. :) The map cam rolled in several sheets of butcher paper (inside a cardboard mailing tube. There was one taped area on the paper, but when I carefully slit the tap, the paper still wouldn't unroll. I went to the other end of the paper and tried to loosen the apparent tape on that end. It began to unroll, but it turned out the map protruded about 1" beyond the paper (Effectively disguising itself as another binding on the paper) When I began to peel that I realized I was actually tearing the map at the level of the butcher paper. We repaired it with packing tape, but thought I would mention this as my grandson then felt his map was slightly damaged... :(

high quality

I purchased this for a child to mark the home countries of all of her friends. She's thrilled to see from where all of her BFFs came.
