It is the places we love that make us feel at home in the world. Maybe it’s your hometown or where you went to college, the city where your parents met or the stretch of countryside where your kids learned to ride their bikes. Wherever it is, celebrate a place you cherish with this handsome serving tray. You select a U.S. address and your custom-made, #-square-mile topographical map will be laminated and affixed to a handcrafted mango wood tray. Specify a full U.S. address, including street number and name, city, state, and zip code.

Personalized items cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. Please check your order carefully; once placed, your order for this item cannot be canceled. Not available for shipment outside of the continental U.S. Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Handmade in USA and India. Mango-wood and paper with a water-resistant laminate. 13 3/4" sq. x 2"H.

What are topographical maps? Topographical maps display land features such as elevation, roads, water, mountains, and some significant landmarks. Town and county names are sometimes shown. Streets are sometimes labeled.

How old are the maps used for the serving tray? Our maps were originally drawn as long ago as 1890 and may have been updated many times since. Each map has been updated at least as recently as 2008.

Why isn’t a specific street shown on my tray? Cartography is the delicate balance between aesthetics and the need to convey huge amounts of information. The level of detail is dependent on the location and elevation, just as it is with online map services.

Why do you need a postal address? We create a #-square-mile map with your chosen address just off center. We also type this address in the map legend. Please double-check the spelling! We do catch and fix most errors, but your help is much appreciated.

My map is off by a few miles or many miles! On rare occasions our mapping software does not recognize a location. This is more likely to happen in rural areas—you may have had similar experiences with online mapping services. If we do accidentally handcraft an incorrect map, we will work with you to determine the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of your location and create a new map for you using that data.

Why is my map so busy/so sparse? The charm of this product is that we use real maps, which are unique to every address. A map of New York City (population more than 8 million) will include many streets and alleys. A map of Box Elder, Montana (population just under 800), will be the exact opposite.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Serving Tray:

The concept is great but the product is very disappointing. It's very cheaply made and doesn't look like it will be waterproof or even water resistant. From National Geographic, and for the money, I expected more. I bought it for an engagement gift and I was embarrassed by the quality.

My only reservation is that I'm not exactly sure how waterproof the map art is.
