Comments about Complete National Geographic on 6 CD-ROMs - Updated Edition:

I was going to buy it, but I got this as a gift. Love having 120 years worth of amazing articles under my fingertips. However adobe AIR was the worse choice for core software. System requirements on the box say: Pentium III 1GHz or faster, meanwhile adobe AIR requirements are Pentium 4 2.33GHz. Someone is lying here. On my 4 core 3.3 GHz processor software is sluggish unresponsive, buggy. Errors during installation, etc, etc. Browser just needs a lot of improvements or replacement. Flash or plain PDF would be probably a better choice. Text enhancement feature seems to work very poorly. Zooming in, out or rotation takes forever. Picture scaling feature also never seems to show original picture quality. Absolutely dreadful to use. If you don't want to be frustrated that you spent money on something worth nothing borrow it first to test it.

Comments about Complete National Geographic on 6 CD-ROMs - Updated Edition:

I can't believe I waited so long to order this. I have fell in love with this complete set of NG issues from 1888-2009. I recieved my 6 disc set from the NG store [...] and began to install program soon after. I must admit, due to an older computer, loading all of the discs onto my hard drive took some time, but it has been well worth it. I have always wished I had all of this in hard copy, but this is even better, a vast library right at my fingertips. Software is designed to help, but not get in the way of your reading and research. If you have even remotely entertained the idea of ordering this set, please do so, you will not regret it. A++

Comments about Complete National Geographic on 6 CD-ROMs - Updated Edition:

I picked this up for [$] from [...] and love it! I loaded all the discs onto my harddrive (almost 50gb) and have really enjoyed browsing through the articles. Happy with my purchase, I even went ahead and bought a subscription to NATGEO through Zinio on my iPad. As a pastor it's great to have such a huge selection of articles that serve as potential sermon illustrations! I can't wait for the 2010 update disc to come out, since I started my new subscription in Jan 2011.The only complaint I have with the program is the lack of export options for articles. I've been able to do so only by downloading a pdf printer, but since the program splits it into 8-page parts it's not very user friendly. But, everything else is great and for [$] I can't complain!
