Winner of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for documentary, Restrepo chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley, one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. The movie focuses on 15 soldiers based at Outpost Restrepo, named after a platoon medic killed early in the deployment. Filmed by author Sebastian Junger and award-winning photographer Tim Hetherington, Restrepo takes viewers on their own 90-minute deployment, without comment or agenda.

Co-director Tim Hetherington, an experienced photojournalist who reported on reported social and political conflict worldwide, was killed in fighting in Libya on April 20, 2011.

Additional content such as interviews with filmmakers and soldiers, outtakes, and more included.

I overnighted this film after seeing the previews and realizing nobody in town carried the blu ray. Beautiful film about the horror of war. Major respect for the courage of the soldiers and the ppl who shot this film.
To guy complaining about it not being shot in full 1080p, it looked beautiful to me on my 120" screen in 1080i. Most parts you couldn't even tell the difference, beautiful film.... Nothing more to say.

WARNING TO BLU RAY BUYERS! this is a great movie, after flying missions in the korengal for a year in 09 i truely appreciate the film, however the blu ray is not worth buying. it is NOT in 1080p! only in 1080i. your blu ray player will not up scale to 1080p, since the disc is a blu ray. if you buy the regular dvd it will upscale. not mad at the filmers but instead im extremely disappointed with national geograpic for not advertising the specs for the movie on their web site before people buy it.(just a hint guys.....blu rays should be in full HD. thanks Nat Geo for ripping us off!
