I bought 10 of these to give as Christmas gifts to my family and friends. I know that everyone has GPS either in their car or phones, especially my nephews. However, I thought a GOOD Atlas, one that has more information about the areas, not just roads would be a good gift. So everyone is getting a National Geographic Atlas and $50 to help with the gas on their next trip. You can't dream of places to go over a GPS.

Except for National Parks section, not sure it is any better than Rand McNalley. I wish the topographical aspects were stronger so we could get a better sense of when the road was passing through mountains or desert, and even indicate the boundaries of metropolitan areas. I'm glad I have this resource, though; it is a fine publication.

Comments about Road Atlas - Adventure Edition:

The scale of the maps (or lack thereof) can be frustrating. For example, Alaska the largest state is detailed on only one page while many other states are on two or more pages. The northern portions of the Canadian Providences are not shown at all. Mexico is shown only on one page. Some smaller towns are not listed in the index section at all. I guess I was disappointed in the lack of detail available from a National Geographic atlas.

They claim "Our road atlas provides accurate, detailed maps of all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico— including scenic routes, historic sites, recreation information, and points of interest." It does not.

It is truly no better than the Rand McNally atlas you can buy cheaper elsewhere. And it is very heavy to hold.

Very disappointed. Not worth the money.

Great trip reference. I like to see the big picture when I travel long distance, rather than just a little picture on a GPS.

Comments about Road Atlas - Adventure Edition:

A lite coat of laminate on the passages would ensure the products longevity.
Some thought should be given to Bicycle Path locations as these are very popular.

Comments about Road Atlas - Adventure Edition:

I am using this Atlas to plan a driving trip thru New England and SE Canada.I like the green colored National Parks and National Forests. I am going to need a magnifying glass to read parts of it, but that is to be expected when a state is reduced to a page or few. Another reason : I am an older reader.
I bought an extra copy to gift a friend .

We travel a lot -- usually on secondary roads so we keep an atlas in the car to give us ideas on routes.
