Both a practical guide and an inspiring travel gift book, Drives of a Lifetime highlights 500 of the world's best car trips. The eclectic list takes readers across stunning natural landscapes of mountain, coastline, glen, and dale; into charming towns and out-of-the-way hamlets; to palatial estates, lovely gardens, and intriguing historic sites; and through bustling, thriving cities all over the world map. From America's scenic byways to the side lanes of Tuscany and the rugged dirt roads of Australia's outback—and hundreds of inviting routes in between—Drives of a Lifetime shows off the highlights of each area and tells readers exactly how to make the drive themselves. Nice Photographs; Not a lot of Text

I bought the book based on a National Geographic advertisement. I wanted to learn more about the Blues Highway from Nashville to Vicksburg. Although this is a very pretty book, perfect for someone's coffee table, the substance was very disappointing. There is not much there that tells me what I could expect on the Blues Highway. One page, most of which is pictures.

Inspiring encyclopedia for road trips

Easy to read and find what you're looking for. A bit too big. When flying abroad and renting a car it's too heavy.

Great! Buying a 2nd one for someone else

Will use this book to plan our next road trip.

Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Delightfully informative

I use the product to begin planning some extensive travels, mostly in the US & Canada. The maps are great for their orientation to the country/state, and for their detail. I do not like map-less pages.

phenomenal book

lovely for armchair traveler

The usual and expected wonderful photogr

Magnificent photography. MY only disappointment was that the "500 Drives" were only a major description of a few and then misiscule information on the majority. The title should have been "15 (or 20) drives of a lifetime and additional brief suggestions for more either similar or in the same area or country"

El Macero, California

Would prefer a smaller book!
