At National Geographic Shop, our goal is your complete satisfaction. For items purchased through our site, we will gladly provide a refund or exchange within one year of the original purchase provided the follow conditions are met:
The item must be in the original and unopened package.
If apparel, the item cannot be worn or washed. A damaged or defective item can only be replaced for the same item. Another item cannot be substituted in place of a damaged or defective item.
Personalized items cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. Please check your order carefully. Once placed, orders for personalized items cannot be canceled.
Genographic kits- Due to the cost of the DNA analysis, once a kit has been opened, we cannot accept returns or administer refunds.
Refunds on a Helix Geno Kit may be issued within 30 days of purchase, as long as the kit has not been registered. A processing fee of $25 will be deducted from the refund; shipping and handling will not be refunded. Once the kit is registered, the purchase can no longer be refunded.
Please note: Only merchandise purchased directly from Shop.NationalGeographic.com may be returned to the address below. We cannot accept any items that were purchased from other retailers.
How to Return an Item
If an item is damaged, defective, or incorrect, please contact us and we will issue a Return Authorization. If the item is not damaged, defective, or incorrect, please include a copy of the packing slip and write the reason for the return, and if you would like a refund or an exchange.
Please mail your return to the address below, and be sure to obtain tracking information for your records.
You will be responsible for the cost of shipping an item back to us. We recommend using a carrier that provides you with a tracking number, such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS Priority Mail.
Once we have received your package, we will process your refund or exchange.
NOTE: Only items purchased through our online store should be returned to this address. If you purchased an item from one of our stores or from any other retailer, you must return the item to the retailer the purchase was made from. We cannot guarantee that items returned to our warehouse that were NOT purchased from our online store will be located and returned to you. We also strongly suggest that you return items using a trackable method of shipping.
