Overview

Created for all global citizens, this universally respected volume of world maps has been completely revised and updated with fascinating visualizations of international trends and global conditions.

National Geographic's flagship Atlas of the World, now in its 11th edition, provides authoritative maps of every country, ocean, and region of the world, as well as thematic maps and accompanying graphics showing important population, environmental, and economic patterns. Organized by continent and reflecting today's political boundaries and identities, this authoritative atlas is an indispensable reference for schools and libraries, as well as the latest resource for home browsing and study. A thematically organized opening section uses current data to visualize urgent concerns, such as Earth's last wild places, changing freshwater availability, human migration and refugee movement, and human rights conditions globally. The back of the book contains basic facts and flags of every country, as well as a comprehensive index cross-referencing more than 150,000 place names. A thought-provoking foreword by Alexander M. Tait, The Geographer of National Geographic, begins the book.

Expensive Dented Atlas

I already e-mailed you well over a week ago regarding the condition of the book. The top left corner of the book and hard sleeve had a nice size dent in it! For the price of the book, it should have been packaged properly and received in perfect condition. The Atlas is lovely, but not happy with the dent!!

Great Gift

I purchased the atlas for my son and his family to share. Rave reviews from all of them at Christmas! I am delighted with the continuing quality of this fine reference work.

Extremely nice for an extreme cost.

This is a very large VERY expensive addition to our library. This was a gift for my husband and he loved it. It’s nicely done ....But I’m still trying to wrap my head around what I just paid.

National Geographic for "kids" from five to 95

Since his childhood my grandson Toben Turner and I have both been enjoying your NG for Kids. I'd had NG in the past, before retirement as an English professor, but managed to keep up only with his delightful juvenile version in recent years. Now that he plows through it in about an hour before letting me see, I've decided that it's clearly time to return, both of us, to the adult deal! Your recent $15/yr caught my eye, so we're all in, again. Thank you!

11th ed. Best Ocean gyres plastic garbage map, p.13

It's the best ocean islands atlas, especially for Oceania, Pacific Ocean. The map of ocean gyres floating plastic garbage, page 13, is the only one I could find in the literature. Uninhabited Henderson island (page 109 M 24) in the South Pacific Ocean, Pitcairn islands group is the most polluted place on earth for concentrations of plastic garbage, waste fishing nets, fishing lines, tarpaulins, buoys, polystyrene foam, Bic type cigarette lighters, and plastic bottles. It would be good if National Geographic Society would publish a world atlas of ocean islands including the updated ocean gyres, mangrove forests and the new South China Sea and Severnaya Zemlya military bases.
