West African Talking Drum
In Ghana, the unique percussive style of gifted drummers is used to communicate over long distances and even tell stories during village festivals and ceremonies. The natural-hide drumhead is struck with a curved stick while the musician holds the drum under his arm. Squeezing the strings changes the tone, producing the varying sounds that give the drum its "talking" reputation. This unique instrument is covered in traditional Ghanaian kente cloth and makes a great gift for the culturally curious or any rhythm enthusiast. Please accept some variation in the color or pattern of the kente cloth. Handmade in Ghana. 6"-diameter drumheads. 10"H.
