Tairona Multistrand Necklace
In the pre-Columbian Tairona culture, which flourished around A.D. 1100, handcrafted necklaces made of semiprecious tube beads were sacred symbols, passed down through generations. Gold was used and revered as a powerful symbol of the sun's energy. Inspired by ancient artifacts, and using the same lost-wax metal casting process as their ancestors, contemporary Colombian artisans handcraft this multistrand necklace, adding stones such as tigerye, jasper, aventurine, and African turquoise, as well as 24-karat gold-plated brass. Each necklace is a one-of-a-kind piece. 18"L
