This historical game of skill and strategy was developed in the late 19th century in the Ningpo area of China. Discovered by the rest of the world in the 1920s, it became a hugely popular parlor game in India, America, and Britain. Our game is a richly detailed and historically accurate reproduction of an antique mah-jongg set. Intricate hand-painted golden dragons grace the exterior of the antiqued leather carrying case, and 144 resin tiles carved with the traditional bamboo, dragon, and flower motifs are nestled inside. The interior of the case depicts a fortune-teller's calendar. Complete playing instructions included. Four blank tiles also included. Hand-painted in China. 11''W x 8''L.
