Elegant, long-legged, red-crowned cranes display graceful dance moves as part of a continuing courtship to their lifelong mates. They leap and bow and spread their wings during their elaborate dances, often throwing twigs and feathers in the air. The crane is a common feature in Japanese art, representing long life and fidelity, and it is often used as a symbol in wedding ceremonies. These red-crowned cranes live year-round on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, unlike their Manchurian cousins who migrate to the warmer climates in the winter. 20'' x 16''.
