''The daily rendezvous with the penguins is becoming a ritual. Each morning we rejoin them in order to spend the day at the heart of the colony. This is April, and it's -4 degrees Fahrenheit. A haunting cacophony prevails; the penguins meet and show off noisily; couples assemble. We are the privileged witnesses of their matchmaking. To our great surprise, the penguins come towards us and surround us. The encounter is troubling, their innocence enchants us: there are still creatures on this earth that do not fear the presence of man. It would even seem that some of them are trying to seduce us. We are finally adopted by a couple of penguins we learn to recognize from day to day. Accustomed to our orange uniforms and our equipment, they accompany us all year long.''
