Murano Millefiori Perfume Bottle
Very little has changed in Murano glassmakers' studios in the past 700 years. They are still run by a maestro who passes his knowledge to an apprentice, and trade secrets are closely guarded. To create this exquisite, light-catching perfume bottle, thin strips of colored glass are gathered together and sliced into pinwheels of color called millefiori, meaning "million flowers". The "flowers" are spread on a tray and melted with gold leaf, then gathered and mouth-blown into this delicate art glass bottle. Handmade in Italy. 2 1/2" diameter x 5"H.
