The size is perfect for a carry on and allows me to put up to a 15 inch laptop in the back pocket of the knapsack. Zippers are very strong and I love the way the bag is organized into sections. This size is perfect for under plane seats or in the overhead bins.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
This bag is best to use when you have a lot of thing to carry with you, usually during a (business) trip or when you have to go through extreme terrain, carry a shoulder bag will give you extra problem with that.
But the worst thing of this bag is you'll have a nightmare if you forget to zip up the camera compartment, end up with all your stuff (camera, lenses, etc) on the floor. Almost experience this during a trip, but lucky I did a double check.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
