Oregon is a state of awe-inspiring landscapes including the rugged, windswept Pacific coast, the lush Willamette Valley, the towering volcanoes and glaciated ranges of the Cascades, and the desolate high desert basins and mountains of the southeast. Mount Hood is the highest point in the state at 11,249 feet (3,429 m) and is one of the epicenters of American mountaineering. Crater Lake is the only National Park in Oregon, and is the deepest lake in the United States, and the seventh deepest in the world. Crater Lake has some of the bluest, clearest water one is ever likely to see. This National Park is ideal for all outdoor activities, including the popular bicycle route, the 33-mile Rim Drive. This road provides spectacular views of Crater Lake and the surrounding area. From climbing the state’s highest peaks, windsurfing and kiteboarding in the world-famous Columbia River Gorge, to running wild rivers such as the Rogue and the Deschutes, Oregon has something to offer all outdoor enthusiasts.
