Artist Richard Morgan hand-carves this charming bobwhite quail and chick in his Connecticut studio, with antique decoys as his inspiration. The New York Times called Morgan “one of the nation’s best-known decoy carvers.” Named for the sound of their distinctive whistle, these secretive birds are found all over the U.S. Although bobwhites are a solitary species, family groups called coveys can be spotted during late summer roosts.
Hand-carved in the U.S. 6"W x 5"H x 3"D.
For more than 30 years, Richard Morgan has one of the most well-known bird decoy carvers. Working from his Connecticut studio, he carves up to 8,000 decoys a year according to a 1999 profile in the New York Times. He observes birds in the wild and works from memory to create his signature works of art.

Comments about Hand-carved Bobwhite Quail and Chick:
I've had my eye on this piece for a while. It was hard for me to justify spending full price, but when it went on sale I could not resist!
Our Craftsman-style home is decorated with predominately nature inspired items - handmade preferred. The bobwhite quail and chick are a great addition to the carved bird collection on the mantle. They are a pleasant reminder of the bobwhites that still can be seen and heard out east.
It is signed by the artist Richard Morgan on the bottom and would make a great gift for nature and bird lovers.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
