The photo is deceiving. It appears that the top closes with a snap or zipper. The top is actually totally open. I would not carry this tote as a purse to travel, since prying hands can easily reach inside. It might make a nice tote for my book or snack.

Use this as my day to day carry bag with cell phone, wallet, pouches with different items in them so they don't get 'lost in the bottom' of a carry bag. Works really well. Love the look and feel - REALLY pleased!!
