Chinese Embroidered Peony Blouse
The asymmetrical collar of this traditional Chinese blouse has been popular since the beginning of the Qing dynasty in 1644. Noblewomen would have worn heavily embroidered jackets and vests with frog-button collars like this. Rural Chinese still wear a less ornate version as a work jacket. This red cotton blouse combines the open neck and easy-care fabric of the rural style with an embroidered front hem that hints at the splendor of the Qing court. Red is the most auspicious color in Chinese culture, and the peony is called the flower of riches and honor.
3/4-length sleeves. Snaps at the neck; side zip. 100% cotton. Made in China. Women’s sizes S (4–6), M (8–10), L (12–14), XL (16–18).

This is very nice but I was disappointed to find that the trim on the bottom was only on the front. The images were obviously presented to obscure this and I find the implicit deception very disappointing for an institution like NG.

I love the color and cultural nod this blouse bring!. Initially I was worried that I wouldn't be able to wear this often, that it would be too "ethnic" for office or hanging out, like the clothes I bring back from overseas trips. But I wore this hanging out with a friend, and she really liked it. We were downtown, and I got a lot of creepy guys going, "You look fine!" Now, that wasn't what I was going for, but at least I know it looks good. I plan on wearing it to work soon.
The fit isn't great. I got a medium and while the length is great, it is a little tight around my chest and a little too big in the shoulders. I'm seriously considering getting it tailored.

I had to send my back because I ordered the large and it was way too tight through the bust (and I am not large 36B). It was a beautiful shirt, color and accents were very rich) and I hated to part with it but you need to be a petite gal to wear it!

Ordered medium. Sung fit, but sexy, good thing the stiching is strong. Should have ordered next size larger. US women should order one size larger than they normally wear ... unless you have a young asian figure.
