Alpaca had been raised in the Andes for thousands of years before the Spanish introduced sheep’s wool. The lightweight, naturally weather-resistant fiber is just as appropriate for urban winters as it is for the windy Andean Altiplano. This collection of patterns and stripes in earthy reds, greens, and golds is inspired by ancient Inca textile patterns and is knit from a blend of baby alpaca fiber and silk.

Made in Arequipa, Peru. Alpaca/silk blend. Approximately 10"W x 80"L.

Dry clean.

    Wash Carefully

    By World Traveller Mary

    from Boise, Idaho

Just got back from a trip to Peru where I shopped for and bought scarves like this one. Do not dry clean these - that's too harsh of a process for the alpaca. The Peruvian artisans always recommend hand-washing with only a tiny bit of mild baby-shampoo. Then lay flat to dry. Don't send this off to be subjected to dry cleaning chemicals. I cannot believe NatGeo recommended that sort of care.
