Our handsome herringbone-patterned wool scarf is designed and woven by a husband-and-wife team in their County Clare workshop, using an antique Hattersley Domestic loom from the early 1900s. These narrow machines, made in Yorkshire, England, of cast-iron, leather, and wood, are especially suited to weaving scarves because they create two naturally reinforced selvedge edges, rather than the cut and sewn edges found on industrially woven scarves.
Gave it to my husband who preferred it to a Banana Republic cashmere scarf given earlier. This one is sturdy, warm and the right length and width for a no-nonsense man. Good looking for casual wear, and looks like it will last a long time.
