Our cotton twill vest from Schott is inspired by the Air Force’s C1 survival vest, first issued in 1944. It contained essential gear, like flares and fishing kits, for pilots who had to ditch behind enemy lines. Unlike the bulky backpack survival kits it replaced, the C1 allowed items to be evenly distributed throughout pockets for maximum comfort and maneuverability—assets that are just as important for today’s traveler. The original C1 was one-size-fits-all, but ours is adjustable thanks to two back straps. Nine exterior pockets and two interior passport pockets.
