The embroidery style known as kantha originated with rural Bengali women, who would repair garments using threads taken from the hems of their saris. The simple running stitch could be used to create anything from a plain border to repeating floral patterns, like those on our Indian jacket and pants. Jacket is unlined with shell buttons.
