These handmade Indonesian sterling silver charms frame petite cabochons representing each month's birthstone. The intricate patterns in the silver are drawn from the ancient Indonesian weaving technique of ikat, where threads are dyed before weaving to achieve a perfect pattern on the loom. Based on a Malay word meaning "to bind," ikat was sought after by 19th century Silk Route traders and is still practiced on the islands of Bali and Kalimantan. Adjustable 18"L chain.

Comments about Adjustable 18" Link Chain for Birthstones:
I loved the idea of wearing the birthstones of my family together on a necklace, and the designs of the charms themselves are interesting and crafty. The necklace itself is just ok and seems to compete with the charms. Maybe it's that the links are too big or that every other one has a ropy detail. I'll probably look for something simpler (leather cord?) to put them on.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
