National Geographic is a renowned authority in cartography. Since 1888 the Society's maps have helped spread geographic knowledge around the globe. Founded in 1915 as the Map Department of the National Geographic Society, National Geographic Maps is responsible for illustrating the world around us through the art and science of mapmaking. Today, National Geographic Maps continues this mission by creating the world’s best wall maps, outdoor recreation maps, travel maps, atlases and globes that inspire people to care about and explore their world. A vast database allows National Geographic to combine the latest data gained by space-age technology with innovative digital mapping techniques to create state-of-the-art political, physical, and thematic maps. The Society's meticulous research and attention to detail have established an unparalleled standard of achievement.
My son used one of these maps to track my PCT thru-hike journey with my young granddaughter so she could put stickers to mark my progress. It enabled her to be involved in my hike and better understand what I was doing. Fantastic! Plus, I kept a second map for myself to frame as a memento of a great experience. Love the larger size for both purposes.
