Our custom map puzzle brings you even closer to your most meaningful place. For centuries, maps have helped us make sense of the world around us. This unique jigsaw puzzle lets you discover even more about the areas you know well. Your journey starts with a house-shaped center piece and grows, one “ah-ha!” moment at a time, into a six-by-four-mile topographic map. Streams and roads, forests and lakes reveal themselves as your 400-piece puzzle takes shape, resulting in a distinctive perspective on the places that mean the most to you. Specify recipient’s full U.S. address, including street number and name, city, state, and zip code.

Please note: Personalized items cannot be returned unless damaged or defective. Please check your order carefully; once placed, your order for this item cannot be canceled. Please allow 2–3 weeks for delivery. U.S. postal addresses only.

12 1/4"W x 18 1/2"L completed.

Which mapping base is used? We use the Delorme North America Raster Map base. This is a modern, street-style, topographical map base, which reveals most major roads and names many but not all streets, towns, cities, lakes, streams, and selected points of interest. The mapping also includes contours and a subtle relief shading effect.

How old is the mapping? The Delorme mapping we use is taken from their 2015 dataset.

How much area will my puzzle cover? The puzzle always covers six miles east to west and four miles north to south. The center will have a house-shaped piece, which is a good place to start!

Will my street be named? Not always. Delorme includes more than 7.1 million miles of roads in this dataset. They aim to label as many streets as possible but there isn’t space to label every street. There is a balance between naming every street and leaving room to display other local information such as neighborhood names and points of interest.

Why is my jigsaw not centered correctly? We have invested in the latest up-to-date technology to help us center on a full street address with zip code. However, in some rural areas the geocoding engines cannot site center with as much accuracy as is possible with more urban areas; in rare circumstances, your house may be slightly off center. If this happens, all we need is the latitude and longitude of your chosen center point to re-create your puzzle to that exact location.

I found this puzzle to be extremely well-made, nicely bagged in a lovely gift box. You have to be careful with the edge-joins, as they are extremely similar. The map is copyrighted 2015, and I knew it wouldn't have my son and daughter-in-law's house on it, as they just completed building in February 2015, but the rest of the neighborhood was there, even though it is a relatively new subdivision. I believe I read somewhere in the promotional material that it was a 4-mile by 6-mile map, and as they live in a very small town (pop. 5,000+) much of the puzzle is vacant (blank) land. It would be nice if two options were offered, one 4 x 6 and perhaps another 1 x 3.

I was excited to get this puzzle, being a map fan and lifelong NG subscriber. The best aspect of this puzzle is the note on the side of the box: "Your Purchase Makes a Difference: All of your purchases support the National Geographic mission..." The puzzle itself is good workmanship. Nice cloth bag, and almost no "jigsaw dust," which pleased me. The map itself is not even close to what I would expect from National Geographic. The quality of the map rivals Mapquest...circa 1999. Map labels look like dot matrix print, and far too many street names are misspelled: "Cemetary," "Cave" instead of "Cove," and more. I also would have preferred to have the option of selecting the scale of the map. Rural areas map out better on a wider scale. These deficiencies certainly do not detract from the skill required to assemble the puzzle. The separate printout of the map helped a great deal, especially since much of the map is green topography with no roads. If I was ordering this from a discount store, I probably wouldn't complain, but I don't think it's unfair to hold National Geographic to a much higher standard, especially for an custom, upscale map item.

I gave this to my 83 year old Aunt as a gift at our Family Reunion. She was so happy to start the puzzle that she put it together and took a photo to show me. The "Home" puzzle piece is shaped like a house! I'm very pleased with the overall quality and delivery.

    "My Town" Puzzle

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Custom Map Puzzle:

I had ordered "My Town" puzzles a few years ago as gifts and was very pleased with the product. Christmas 2015 I ordered another puzzle for my son and his wife for their new house. The puzzle came without a box … just a cheap cloth bag holding the puzzle pieces! Not at all like the photo of the product shows. The previous puzzles were in a box with the street address on the top. What a huge difference in a product. I won't be ordering anything from National Geographic again due to poor, cheap quality.

Not worth price. Map should be larger so you don't need magnifier to see print. Lake Michigan (over 1/3 of puzzle)not identified. Major river not identified. No idea what green blobs and little blue symbols are. Poor product. Not what I expect from National Geographic.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Custom Map Puzzle:

Very disappointing. Very little detail. Nothing like advertised as examples. Mostly shades of green and blue. The cuts of pieces are very similar (almost identical). Poor craftsmanship. From an institution that has built a reputation on providing details of the world, this product seems like a sham.

Got this for a gift for my elderly mother who uses jigsaw puzzles challenge her mind. She, a life-time subscriber to Nat. Geo, saw the add in an issue and mentioned it to me. I though it would be the perfect gift. She regularly completes complicated, 1,000+ piece puzzles on a weekly basis. This one she set aside unfinished after 10 days.

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Custom Map Puzzle:

While I enjoyed putting the puzzle together as it brought back some memories of my childhood, I was very disappointed that my "house-shaped piece" did not include my street. I can only attribute that to NG not using a current street map. My brother sent this to me as a gift and he was even disappointed. I was going to glue it together and have it framed for hanging but now I'm not. Disappointed :-(

              Way too small

              By MARS

              from New England

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Custom Map Puzzle:

This home town puzzle would be wonderful (it's a great idea!) IF the entire map was larger. Whether you have great eyesight or not, you'll be reaching for a magnifier and what fun is that? The pieces should be twice as big and the finished puzzle should also be twice as big. The quality is fine, but for the hefty price it would be SO much better if it could be enjoyed and displayed in the manner of most other puzzles. Perhaps zooming in on a one mile area would make more sense rather than covering so much area and not being able to read the street names. Please enlarge so future customers won't be disappointed!

Comments about National Geographic ''My Town'' Custom Map Puzzle:

This seemed as if it would be an ideal gift...I did look at reviews but decided to make the purchase anyway. For the price, puzzle quality should have been much higher. Also, a preview of how the puzzle will appear would be great, especially for addresses in small towns that have a good amount of green area. The puzzle ended up being a large green picture with some red and blue lines through it, representing roads. There are recognizable street names but they are printed in extremely small type.
