I bought 10 of these to give as Christmas gifts to my family and friends. I know that everyone has GPS either in their car or phones, especially my nephews. However, I thought a GOOD Atlas, one that has more information about the areas, not just roads would be a good gift. So everyone is getting a National Geographic Atlas and $50 to help with the gas on their next trip. You can't dream of places to go over a GPS.

Except for National Parks section, not sure it is any better than Rand McNalley. I wish the topographical aspects were stronger so we could get a better sense of when the road was passing through mountains or desert, and even indicate the boundaries of metropolitan areas. I'm glad I have this resource, though; it is a fine publication.

Comments about National Geographic Road Atlas:

Just replaced my old Nat Geo road atlas with this new edition. It shows every road so it is dependable for those who do not have GPS. I really like all the detail. It's just fun to pick this up, sit down in an easy chair, and dream of places to go.

Comments about National Geographic Road Atlas:

I travel a lot and I needed a recent map so I will know the routes I'm to travel on. In search of a map, I stumbled on this road atlas. The atlas is well detailed and easy to use. Even the tiniest road I didn't expect to see on a map, I saw on this atlas. If you are a road traveller, this atlas will really help.

Comments about National Geographic Road Atlas:

We've had a NG road atlas since the late 90s. We bought a new one so it would have updated road information. Like the old one, it is stunningly accurate and detailed, including a lot of state and national park info for each state, along with other points of interest. We use this atlas for trip planning, and just because it's pretty to look at.
