We love this for our Special Needs Son! He's in 5th grade and loves to hear all the great info. The only thing as far as cons: Is that there is no volume button and can be too loud. But other than that great overall! I can't wait for him to take this to school and share with his teachers and friends!

It gives data in a monotone voice that doesn't allow for any interaction. The buttons down the side have very limited function. The image shown in the ad NEVER changes because it's a sticker. There is no option for interaction. This is really, really disappointing product. It reminds me of the early computer equipment we had 30+ years ago. I wish I could get my money back on it. My 5 year old insisted he wanted it but it's not something that can maintain his interest and he hasn't touched it since Christmas Day. I won't order anything from NG catalog every again. They are over priced, poor quality products that don't meet expectations. This gift I gave to my son is just embarrassing to NG.

Disappointing and not inspiring

Comments about Interactive ''Laptop'' Planetarium:

Voice was difficult for our children to understand. Many of the facts focused on minutiae rather than interesting details. It was not very intuitive to use.

Comments about Interactive ''Laptop'' Planetarium:

The first one that arrived was broken - it didn't work even with new batteries and after being reset. This one is clear, easy to hear and use and I'm hoping my grand daughter will love it

Disappointed!!

Comments about Interactive ''Laptop'' Planetarium:

This was a gift for my 4yr old grandson. He already knows alot of facts about the solar system. This is NOT a laptop. It's a plastic board that recites facts about the solar system. You can answer true or false...that is the only interaction. It is not a challenge for him and was a waste of money in our situation. The product is represented as a laptop and it's certainly NOT!

        Comments about Interactive ''Laptop'' Planetarium:

This was a gift for my 9 year old son, and it sounded like a nice idea. He has a new telescope, so an interactive planetarium sounded interesting.
My main disappointment is that it does not work. When he turned it on, only a few buttons worked. I thought it was stuck in a demo mode and did not have batteries. However, the batteries were there and fine. When you turn it on, it says in a crackly voice "press a button." You are supposed to press a planet, but the buttons are invisible under the stickers. Most we could not find, but sometimes if we pushed really hard on Venus, for example, it might let us learn some facts (by pushing a visible button at the side) about the planet. Or, it might tell us about the wrong planet, or it might not work at all.
Frankly, even if it worked perfectly, I think it would have been a little too dry. But, mainly it just did not work well at all. The customer service representative I talked to was very helpful about how to return this gift item and get customer credit.

This product dissappoints. No visual interaction only press a button and hear a fact about a planet. This is not worth the money. Returned promptly. I expected better from National Geographic.
