4-D is too much. The puzzle is made of two layers and each layer is exactly the same. In the pile of pieces are two identical puzzle pieces, one for each layer. Also 95 % of the puzzle pieces are exactly the same shape adding to the level of difficulty.
We thought we could get away with only assembling layer 2 and have fun placing the buildings in the cut-out slots featured in this layer. Unfortunately some of layer 2 puzzle pieces are glued to layer 1 forcing you to build layer one first. If you don't build layer 1, layer two does not lay flat on the table top and this causes chaos.
Unless they redesign it, don't buy it if you want a family activity. It should be one layer with the cut-out shapes for buildings and the puzzle pieces should vary in shapes to ease the effort of placing them. I'm sure the same rings too with the other 4-D city puzzles offered today, but I'm not willing to find out.
