In Pomerania, a historical region that stretches between the contemporary borders of Poland and Germany, translucent amber is often found along the shores of the Baltic Sea. This organic gem is the fossilized resin of prehistoric trees and comes in a range of colors from moss green to honey gold to the translucent, rich brown that we most often associate with amber. Amber beads were a traditional wedding gift in Pomerania, where they are thought of as protective amulets.

A handful of amber beads are linked with sterling silver in this heartfelt bracelet.

Mined in Sicily, Burma, Romania, Poland, and Mexico, amber is actually the fossilized resin of ancient trees, and is among the oldest stones used for human adornment. It has been called the gold of the sea because the most extensive deposits are found along Baltic shores. The Greeks, to whom amber represented the tears Apollo shed as he was banished from Olympus, called amber "electron" because of its tendency to attract lightweight objects when rubbed.

Comments about Baltic Amber Heart Bracelet:

I wear the bracelet with my amber necklace, rings and earrings, as a set. It all matches and looks wonderful on cream colored blouses.

It is slightly too large on my wrist.
