I bought this for my frequent traveling as I need an alarm and a bedside time piece. So my main need was for a clock to read with my small night torch before the sun rose. The clock is very well made and high quality but the face is a bit too small. Or perhaps I should say the hands are difficult to distinguish. The hour hand in particular is hard to decipher. Maybe this is a young person's clock. Those older than 50 need clearer hands.

My husband and I travel a lot. Sometimes separately. This enables us both to have an alarm to wake up by if needed.

Comments about National Geographic Travel Clock:

This unit is thick, not a pocket watch, it is a travel alarm clock. Next to a bed, you want to be able to read the dials at night. You cannot read these dials at night; the luminescence of the dials is totally lacking. I would not recommend it as a travel or bedside clock. The case itself is attractive. Would also be attractive as pocket watch if it were slimmer; this is not that either.

The setting wheels on the back of the clock are nearly impossible to turn to set the clock. It is attractive and seemed perfect as a gift for my husband, but I am returning it.

      • Time Only Not Alarm

Comments about National Geographic Travel Clock:

This tiny travel/all-purpose clock is charming in appearance, but seems an anachronism in design. It is difficult to set either the time or alarm, with tiny wheels to turn, actually needing a small screw driver when fingernails fail, and exposes the mechanism, which catches dust and is unattractive. It seems to need modernization, like an easy way to set the time and alarm (both on and off). It is most attractive when closed, but not when in use.

Comments about National Geographic Travel Clock:

A travel clock that feels and looks like something you would have for a lifetime, but it failed after 3 years. When one unscrews the back you find the cheapest materials I have ever seen. The weight infers quality, but that simply misleads one to believe that you have acquired something of value. I expect Nat'l Geo. to sell more quality items than this.
