A combination of Polish folk craft and one of the country’s favorite pastimes, this hand-carved wooden chess set is handsome enough for display. Archaeological excavations suggest that chess was played in Poland as long ago as the 7th century. Pieces made from maple, birch, and oak store in the hinged wooden game board when not in use.
