Tibetan Chime of Compassion
Inscribed with one of the most significant mantras in Buddhism—Om mani padme hum—this handcrafted chime is created by Tibetan refugees residing in northern India. Buddhists believe that saying this mantra, or even viewing it in its written form, invokes the blessings of the Buddha of Compassion. Cast from a combination of metals, the hand-tuned chime produces a clear tone when struck. Features brass stand with cloud motif and wooden base and striker.

My Tibetan friend recently lost her father in Tibet and I selected this gift to show my compassion for her loss and assist, in her cultural manner, to help her feel peace around her father's death in a tradition she was raised with and I thought being made by the refugees who fled to India was extra appropriate in this case.
She absolutely loved it and says it is so lovely.

The bolt which is integral to the curved arm and necessary for assembly was badly bent and had stripped teeth. I had to cut off 1/3 of an inch of the bolt so I could get a straight bolt with enough good teeth to screw it into the base. The item was wrapped in tissue paper, no box so it was inconvenient as a gift. The item otherwise is very nice and attractive, and would make a good gift for someone into meditation.
