I wanted this for light hiking and so far I am happy with the simple functionality. I haven't completely tested it yet (the forecasting seems more optimistic than reality proves), but it's accurate for temperature - my main interest. Self-contained, so no signal problems! A simple tool for a simple job!

Not the best buy ... there are several things.
1. Thermal couple is on the back of the watch so you can't get accurate temp on your belts same is true if your pack is wet and it is there.
2. the carabiner detached the day after I started using it and took an hour to fix. Attachment is flimsy.
It is the only one of kind and is light to carry.
3. It does not appear to be waterproof or even water resistant ...
4. you need a magnifying glass to read some of the numbers
Instructions are not clear and appear to be a translation ... or poorly translated ...

Cannot recommend this one ... the price is good but here are the cons: it uses a battery every 8 months or so, After two years mine simply stopped working, the thermal couple is on the back so it does not keep accurate temperature when on your "belt loop" it is extremely slow to change temperatures up to 20 minutes ... so you get what you pay for and this is considerably cheaper than other watches that do the same thing so your choice ...

This should be a handy gadget, but it needs improvement. The screen, covered by a plastic dome, is dark and difficult to read in anything but the brightest light (to fix this, add illumination). The plastic dome is flimsy and fell off within a week. Luckily, I found it and taped it back in place, but a few days ago, it fell off again, this time unnoticed and now lost. Are replacement domes available? I haven't found any.
Bottom line: I would not recommend this product. I expected more from National Geographic.
