Besides being a usable compass for hiking or finding you way in any situation, this compass is also nice to look at and solidly made. I didn't expect it to weigh as much as it did - I've heard of using keys for self-defense, but this would work far better (and keep on working)! :-) But seriously, it is made well enough that I don't have to worry about being too hard on it. The Celtic design adds to the charm and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. Did I mention that it is authentic as well? It's made by Mullingar Pewter, in Ireland. It truely is an Irish Compass.

Very pretty but only worked for a few days. My daughter wanted a functional compass to navigate in unfamiliar places. I would not recomend this product

      Comments about Irish Pewter Compass:

Purchased this pocket watch for my son. We are Irish so it fit perfectly for St Paddy's Day. The glass on the face of the watch was cracked when he received it, however, NatGeo IMMEDIATELY replaced it. He is very happy with National Geographic and the new pocket watch.

          Comments about Irish Pewter Compass:

I bought this for my son as a gift when he returns from Afghanistan. He was looking at antique compasses before he left. The Celtic design on this compass is beautiful. The finish and weight also add to it's look of good quality. Great as a collectable but also useful! I know he will love it!

          Comments about Irish Pewter Compass:

I make cross country motorcycle rides. I carry a compass for those times when I am somewhere and need to keep in a specific direction. As a US Army Ranger, I am NEVER lost. I have been misoriented for short periods.

                Comments about Irish Pewter Compass:

Poor Quality. Not as nice as I thought it was going to be. Looks cheap. To use the compass it must be PERFECTLY flat. Needle will hang up and not rotate properly.
