Comments about Family Stargazer Telescope:
The telescope was a gift. I did not know what to look for in a beginner telescope so I purchased the Family Stargazer as it was affiliated with National Geographic and I believed this would give some assurance of quality. The set up and user manual provided was insufficient to get one started. The CD included only referenced a website to use and did not provide any useful information directly related to the telescope.
The knob for purposes of stabilizing the telescope was not working so the telescope continued to move while in use. I was disappointed for myself as well as NG, as I believe that this is not consistent with the quality of merchandise NG represents. I have since purchased a different beginner telescope at the same price and find it to be of superior workmanship. Setup and use instructions were also more detailed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
