Martin and Chris Kratt are on a mission. These two brothers are activists, producers, creators of Emmy Award-winning television programs, and founders of the Creature Hero Society, a nonprofit endeavor established to empower children with an understanding of conservation and the environment. The Creature Hero Society's first project mobilized kids across North America to help set aside a land refuge called Grizzly Gulch that has become critical to the survival of the endangered grizzly bear.
Most recently, the pair has been on location filming episodes of the National Geographic Channel's Be the Creature. In this eye-opening series, the Kratts trek into remote habitats and live with bears, cheetahs, wild dogs, and other intriguing species. The men immerse themselves in their subjects' worlds for weeks on end. The result is an unforgettable series of encounters that give viewers a much more intimate perspective of the wild world.

Comments about Be the Creature: 4 DVD Set :
The Kratt Brothers are a favorite with our family. This series explains the special features that are unique to each animal for their survival in the wild.
I like how the Kratt Brothers live in the animal's world for one month at a time and explain to the viewers the challenges they encounter while providing amazing video of the animals. Well produced!
The Kratt Brothers are known for their children's shows. This is a nice addition for older kids who enjoy learning about nature. Be advised if younger kids are viewing that survival of the fittest, mating and death are part of the series.
I'm just so sad that National Geographic doesn't sell Seasons 2 or 3. I think the Orangutan Episode won an award and yet I can't get it on DVD. So sad about that.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Be the Creature: 4 DVD Set :
My son, who is almost six, has been a major Kratt fan for a couple of years. Chris and Martin clearly understand kids as well as creatures. They are always entertaining and highly informative, not just on facts but also on concepts. They make science understandable to young viewers without talking down to them.
We bought the complete first season of Be The Creature, and watched all 13 episodes in a couple of days. In some ways, this is their best series.
I would include a word of warning for Chris and Martin Kratt's younger fans. Be The Creature is not Zoboomafoo. Be The Creature teaches about real life in the creature world, including death and reproduction. Parents who are concerned about sex should preview the baboon episode, and parents who don't want their kids to know about death should skip this series entirely. Start the little ones on Zoboomafoo, and come back to Be The Creature later. For my almost-six-year-old son, this was fine. Your milage may vary.
