A family of five elephants is found dead on a dry riverbed in a remote region of India. The bodies show no signs of wounds or injuries, and the forest department declares a lightning strike to be the cause of death. But residents have been in a long-standing conflict with the elephants over the region's resources. In the past, when herds trampled crops, residents tried to get rid of the elephants by poisoning. Now, after further investigation, contradictions surrounding the cause emerge and experts speculate on new explanations. Can lightning really kill five elephants at once?
