Aymara Alpaca Sweater

Indigenous Aymara and Quechua people have raised alpacas for centuries in the high-altitude, windswept Peruvian plains. Its extreme warmth, light weight, and natural resistance to water make alpaca wool an ideal fabric for the frigid winters of the Andean Altiplano. This turquoise-hued cardigan is made by Aymara and Quechua women working in Peru, and features bands of traditional Peruvian textile patterns. With a soft drape and hidden zipper, it combines the travel-friendly qualities of alpaca with a flattering cut. 40% alpaca, 30% wool, 30% acrylic.
Women's sizes S (4-6), M (8-10), L (12-14), XL (16-18)
Hand-wash or dry clean.
Indigenous people in South America have raised alpaca for its fleece for thousands of years before Europeans learned about the animal and exported alpaca fiber to Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today this domesticated animal is bred throughout the world, but its native habitat is the Andean altiplano: Ecuador, southern Peru, northern Bolivia, and northern Chile.
Descended from the wild vicuña, alpaca resemble a cross between a llama and a sheep. Its fleece is similar to sheep's wool, but is usually softer, less prickly, and has minimal lanolin content, making it virtually hypoallergenic. Its extreme warmth, relatively light weight, and natural resistance to water make alpaca wool an ideal fabric for the frigid winters of the Andean altiplano. These qualities have also led to a rise in the use of alpaca fiber in outdoor gear and active wear, although it is also easily spun into a fine enough yarn for use in suits and other dress wear.
Most alpaca products can be treated as you would an object made of sheep's woolhand wash using a mild soap and lukewarm water, or dry cleanbut check the tag or manufacturer's instructions for specific instructions.

Comments about Aymara Turquoise Alpaca Sweater:
This is the perfect jacket to light up a little black dress. It tastefully adds just the right amount of color. In fact, it's nice enough for me to wear as mother of the groom at out son's wedding.

Comments about Aymara Turquoise Alpaca Sweater:
This is a beautiful sweater/ jacket that really dresses up a pair of slacks, skirt, or simple black dress. the color is terrific with gray/ white hair. the neckline is very flattering and the wool is not itchy on your skin. i think it runs a little small; i ordered medium, though i am rather short (5'2") and it fits perfectly.

Pretty ALPACA-BLEND Sweater
Pros

- Soft
Cons
- Thin Fabric

Comments about Aymara Turquoise Alpaca Sweater:
This is a very pretty sweater, but I was disappointed that the sweater is described as alpaca when in fact it contains only 40% alpaca. (Note that it is also made up of 30% wool and 30% acrylic - information that is missing in the online product description.) The sweater is lighter in weight than I anticipated, but I still expect to get a lot of use out of it.
