Indonesian Beaded Shirt
The wax-resist dyeing technique of batik has a long history in Indonesia, where it evolved into high art over the past few centuries. Using a special tool that allows melted wax to flow as if through a fountain pen, artisans trace elaborate floral designs, curlicues, and dotted patterns onto fabric. When dyed, the wax-drawn designs remain vibrant. Similar patterns are hand-drawn here using metallic paints on aqua-blue 100% cotton, with hand-beaded details. 3/4-length sleeves.
