Based on traditional alpine designs, this bold red vest from Geiger is made from 100% pure boiled wool, a process that takes one of nature's most highly insulating, quick-drying fabrics and makes it even warmer and more weather resistant. This unlined vest has two front pockets and buttons that feature the tiny star-shaped edelweiss blossom, the national flower of Austria.
Geiger has been creating high-quality, alpine-style outwear since the company was founded in 1906 by Barbara Geiger in Tyrol, Austria. They became known internationally in the 1950s when the Austrian National Ski Team wore their designs. At the 1956 Winter Olympics, three-time gold medal winner Tony Sailer from the town of Kitzbühel was called roter Blitz von Kitz, "the red flash from Kitz" because of the striped red sweater Geiger had designed for him.
