The grounds of Vienna's Belvedere Palace have hosted one of Europe's greatest gardens since Belvedere was designed in the early 1700s. Topiary-lined avenues exist alongside the emperor's baroque private garden. This double-faced boiled wool jacket is designed with the same traditionally Austrian combination of elegance and exuberance. The classic Austrian cut emphasizes a design heritage as refined as the garden's formal walkways, while scrolling velvet trim along the collar, hem, and sleeves adds a playful spark to a sophisticated style. The wind-resistant and wrinkle-free natural fiber is ideal for travel.
Imported. Approximately 23''L. Women's sizes S (4-6), M (8-10), L (12-14), XL (16-18), XXL (20).
Dry clean only.

Beautiful but cheaply made

Comments about Belvedere Palace Wool Jacket:
I gave this beautiful jacket to my mother for Christmas last year. It was totally her style. Although she is a petite woman the length of the jacket was almost too short. Same with the sleeves. It's still fit ok though. I was a bit disappointed with the color. Although still a beautiful color, it is a darker red than the image shows. Dark burgundy red would describe it better. Still nice but not as colorful as the one we can see in the picture. I wouldn't have bought it had I known that as the color is a very familiar one instead of the beautiful, unique, luxurious red I expected. But worse of it all, the buttons ALL fell off, two after the first time my mother wore it, then some the second time and third time. She had to sew them all herself again!!! At [$] one should expect a much higher quality than this. As she doesn't live in the U.S., she didn't send it back after Christmas. I had brought it all the way up to the country she lives in a year ago and shipping fees to return it would have been too elevated for what I thought it was worth at this point. I truly didn't want to have to spend more on it as I already had paid a lot for it. I have never wrote a bad review before but when I saw it in National Geographic Holiday catalog again I couldn't believe it. I do not want anyone to pay as much for a jacket unless quality for that price is not an issue. The style is beautiful and I wish it had been made with better care.

Comments about Belvedere Palace Wool Jacket:
I have to come to the defense of this beautiful sweater. I asked for it as a Christmas gift and have certainly enjoyed wearing it. I do regret that it was knit in China (according to the label) but it is a beautiful sweater jacket nonetheless.

Pretty but NOT authentic boiled wool!

Comments about Belvedere Palace Wool Jacket:
This is a Chinese-made double knit SWEATER--not a European-style woven boiled-wool fabric JACKET--a disappointment.

From National Geographic:Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that this jacket didn't meet your expectations. While it is crafted from imported material as listed on the Details tab, the jacket is authentic boiled wool. It is made using a circular knitting machine that creates bolts of knit fabric that are then boiled and shrunk. This is not the same as traditional Tyrolean loden, a similar but more rugged processed wool fabric. This particular style is double-faced boiled wool so there is no knit /purl side but both sides are knit. This fabric is appealing in that it has more stretch than regular boiled wool. The double-faced knit is also appealing because the boiling process creates a heathered effect.
