In the northern British Isles, thick wool pullovers known as guernseys kept fishermen warm and dry during long runs at sea. Villages came to be known for particular knitting patterns like this one, originally named for the Yorkshire port of Whitby. Whitby sailors also worked fishing seasons in the Scottish port of Peterhead, and the style is sometimes called Buchanhaven after Peterhead’s small local fishing village. This classic nautical sweater is knit in Peterhead, Scotland, using virgin wool raised and spun in Yorkshire.
Made in Scotland. 100% wool. Men’s sizes M (38–40), L (42–44), XL (46–48).
