The Peruvian city of Arequipa is known as La Ciudad Blanca because of its Spanish colonial-era buildings made of white volcanic rock. The ornate baroque decorations on the Catedral de Arequipa provided the inspiration for the cable stitches on this soft 100% pima cotton cardigan. Zip front.
100% pima cotton. Made in Peru. Men’s sizes M (38–40),
L (42–44), XL (46–48).
Comments about Catedral de Arequipa Pima Cotton Cardigan:
This garment is entirely useless as a sweater since it would not provide protection from the cold. If you hold it up to your eye you can actually see right through the material. This in not a man's sweater; it's a delicate decoration.
I cannot believe National Geographic would be so irresponsible and misleading that they would not reveal in description that this was not a sweater that would provide and warmth and the material utterly insubstantial.
From National Geographic:Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this sweater. We regret that it did not meet your expectations. This sweater is featured in our Spring 2013 Catalog because the lighter weight of Peruvian pima cotton makes it appropriate for wearing from spring through fall. It was not designed to protect against the deep cold of a northern winter. The pattern of cable stitches does make the material somewhat see-through in places, but heavy Aran wool sweaters are also see-through because of the looser knit. The slightly open weave is what makes these garments unique and beautiful and allows you to see the detail of the design.
