National Geographic performed an important service during World War II as we supplied maps to the Allies. Maps were often sewn in to the lining of the A-2 flight jackets in case the pilots were shot down over enemy territory.
This is a reproduction of the historical WWII flight jackets, originally issued in 1931 and then worn by the allied pilots who flew perilous missions over wartime terrain, and the lining features a re-creation of the survival maps of southern France. A surface of vintage French lamb leather adds to the authenticity.
Features include some of the customizations that pilots preferred, such as the wind flap, front zipper with storm flap, hidden snap-down collar points, knit cuffs and waistband, and flap-top and side-entry pockets.
Not available for shipment outside of the U.S.
Imported. Men’s sizes M (38-40), L (42-44), XL (46-48), XXL (50-52). Weighs 5.2 lbs.

When I opened the box I was not xpecting much at all. As I have bought several SCHOTT jackets in the past. All were MADE IN THE USA..And were a poor quality product .With little attention to detail. But I WAS SUPRISED> THIS SCHOTT jacket was a HOME RUN. TO bad it had to come from CHINA to be this good. The leather is quality Lamb and first rate. Very soft but with a hefty feel.Unlike GOAT which is lightin feel and weight this Lamb had a more substantial feel to it and weights maybe a pound more than a same product in GOAT would. Its also lined and has some insulation in it. I like the jacket a lot. Small concern though, The top sewing in the cargo pocket area where the flap folds over the pocket. The stitching was a tad loose. May come loose in a short ammount of time. But as I am a very detail oriented and quality person.I see this Schott jacket as a great purchase. Just dont look to Schott to make a quality product with the USA label on it. I tried 3 times and was dissapointed all three times. But I now own two of there made in China flight jackets including this one from NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC... And find them excellent. I believe you will not be dissapointed. Im and Large tall in sizing. But ordered an XL .I like a bit of more room. Dont much care for the confinment of the miltary sizing. So if your a true Xl this should work...NO reference this is a SCHOTT jacket. And a SCHOTT product it say so on the label...And thats true...Greg

I really was disappointed that an American classic was made in China! The inside label brags that they have been making these in NJ for 95 years and goes about how this in an authentic version of the jacket (even though it is unauthentically made in China). Many of the names on the inside map are incorrectly spelt, yet I assume that the authentic version had the correct names. Lastly, the little leather hook used to hang the jacket broke the first day it was hung.
This appears to be the best quality jacket I've ever owned. The leather seems heavy duty as is the zipper and all the other hardware. While I've only had it a few days, I'm very impressed. It's good to see that top quality coats like this are still being made, even though it did come from China.
Feels true to size
Feels true to length
Was this a gift?:
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
