Had one of these years ago. Tried to find another, but most were imitation, didn't fit, or were plain uncomfortable to wear. This one is the real thing from Greece, you betcha! NG is known for quality, and having the REAL thing!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
From National Geographic:Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. The piece you described as made in Italy is actually an inner reinforcement around the headband that gives the crown its frame. This piece on the hat you received came from a supplier in Italy. However, the hat itself was made in a town outside Athens, Greece. Each hat has a certificate of authenticity attached to it.
I bought this item for my son who is a commercial fisherman as a birthday gift! I know he will love it and enjoy wearing it. The quality and workmanship is fantastic! I just wish they made smaller size that would not have to be altered in order to fit properly. Not everyone has a big head...
Feels full size too big
