This soft leather tote is decorated with swirls and butterflies, as well as bright peacock feathers. Called mayura in Sanskrit, the peacock is found throughout Indian poetry and mythology. The Hindu god Krishna wears a peacock feather, and the god of war Murugan rides a peacock in battle. In the 1960s the peacock was officially designated as the national bird of India.
