In Guatemala’s western highlands, many Maya women hand-weave traditional brocade blouses called huipils. A good huipil can last 30 years, but many women weave new ones for special occasions and sell hand-me-downs to other artisans. Our cotton bag is one example of this creative reuse of vintage materials. Sewn in a family-run studio in Panajachel, Guatemala. Patterns will vary slightly.
